2011 MACCABI TOURNAMENT RULES

REGISTRATION IS AT 10.30am.

BOWLING COMMENCES AT 11.00am

GENERAL RULES

1. All entrants must be of the Jewish Faith.

2. The tournament is sanctioned by the B.T.B.A. and the general playing and tournament rules will govern this event together with the following special rules.

3. This tournament is open to members of the B.T.B.A. Non members and those unable to produce a current B.T.B.A. membership card may also participate but will not be eligible for B.T.B.A. services.

4. No person may play in this tournament except those originally entered or such replacements as accepted by the Tournament Manager. The Tournament Manager is Russ Snipper (Tel 07739 005173).

5. A provisional ball shall be rolled in the case of a dispute relating to pinfall that cannot be resolved on the spot. Protests must be lodged with the Tournament Manager within 60 minutes of the completion of the game in question and confirmed in writing within 72 hours.

6. The Handicap Tournament shall be divided into two divisions:

Division 1 – Mens Division 2 – Ladies

7. Each bowler will bowl 5 games changing lanes after each game. The tournament will not be re-entry.

8. All players must register at least 30 minutes prior to their squad time to draw their starting lane. The Tournament Manager has the right to balance the lane allocation after the lane draw has taken place.

9. Handicaps will be based on 2/3rds of the difference between the bowler’s highest league average and 225. There will be no maximum handicap.

10. Each bowler must declare his or her highest league average or tournament average  over 12 games, as at the closing date. If a bowler does not have a current average over 12 games as at 29th May 2011, last season’s highest league or Maccabi Tournament 2010 average should be declared. Bowlers with no known average will be given an average of 165 (handicap of 40 per game).

11. The Tournament Manager reserves the right to reject or re-rate any entry and his/her decision shall be final subject to appeal to the B.T.B.A.


12. Entry Fee: £20.00 if sent in advance with entry form or £25.00 on the day of the tournament, which includes £6.00 prize money (based on 40 entries). All prize money will be returned 100% as trophies. There will be an additional fee upon qualification for the knockout finals of £10 per bowler.

13. All entries must be received by 10.30am on 29th May 2011, which is 30 minutes prior to the commencement of the handicap section of the tournament.

14. Entry fees will be non-returnable and all fees must be enclosed with the entry form.

15. All bowlers must register at least 30 minutes before commencement of each section of the tournament.

SCRATCH FINALS

16. The Combined Scratch knockout section shall be head to head matches between the top 8 players (scratch scores) and will be seeded based on the 5 qualifying games bowled. All qualifying pin fall is dropped.

17. After taking out the top 8 scratch bowlers, the Combined Handicap knockout section shall be head to head matches between the next top 8 players (handicap scores) and will be seeded based on the 5 qualifying games bowled. All qualifying pin fall is dropped and scores in this section will include handicap.

18. In both knockout sections ladies will receive 10 pins bonus per game.

19. The head to head matches will be played in 4 rounds: ⅛ finals, quarter finals, semi finals and a final. Each match played as a best of 3 games format (i.e. when 2 games are won the match is over).

20. In case of a tie at the end of a match, a one ball roll off on a full set of pins will be played, repeated until the tie is broken

21. Both Knockout Sections will commence at 2.30pm. Registration 2.00pm..

22. Should any of the qualifiers not be present or not wish to bowl in the Knockout Sections, their place will then be offered to the next highest score (including ladies bonus).

23. Trophies will be awarded as follows:

Mens and Ladies Hi-Game (with Handicap)

Mens and Ladies Division – Handicap section 1st 2nd 3rd

Combined Scratch Knockout Section 1st 2nd 3rd

Combined Handicap Knockout Section 1st 2nd 3rd

THE FREDDIE LOBERMAN MEMORIAL TROPHY WILL BE AWARDED TO THE CHAMPION OF THE COMBINED HANDICAP DIVISION

THE MACCABI TOURNAMENT CHAMPION TROPHY WILL BE AWARDED TO THE PERSON WHO GAINS FIRST PLACE IN THE SCRATCH MATCHPLAY FINAL
